Magnum Ice Cream Introduces Non-Dairy Sea Salt Caramel Bars

Unilever‘s ice cream brand Magnum announces the release of Magnum Non-Dairy Sea Salt Caramel Bars. Joining Classic and Almond varieties, Magnum Non-Dairy Sea Salt Caramel Bars apparantly deliver “indulgent taste with a non-dairy sea salt caramel base dipped in a cracking non-dairy chocolate shell.”

Launched in 1989, the original Magnum was the first ice cream aimed exclusively at adults. When the vegan magnum was released in Australia last year, it caused a scandal amongst Australian dairy farmers who labelled them “a problem for the dairy industry” and said that the product should not be labelled as ice-cream.

The new vegan product is reportedly certified Vegan by Vegan action. Unilever makes the claim that in the production of the bars, “master chocolatiers source cocoa beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms and pair them with a deliciously creamy vanilla base made with a blend of coconut oil and pea protein, a plant-based alternative to dairy.”
