Little Spoon, a leading direct-to-consumer nutrition brand for kids in the USA, has partnered with Oatly to launch two limited edition overnight oat smoothies — Apple Cinnamon Swirl and Peach Berry Bliss.
The smoothies, made with Oatly Oat milk, contain 6g of whole grains and are dairy, GMO, gluten, and allergen-free to “ensure a nutritious and satisfying non-dairy snack.” They will debut on June 25th and will be available on the company’s website.
“We heard the call from our customers: mornings needed to be made easier and healthier”
According to the announcement, the company aims to address an 80% demand from customers for more nutritious and convenient breakfast options.
The new smoothies will launch under the company’s “Start on the Sunny Side” campaign, which includes the introduction of other non-vegan breakfast products. The campaign features an original breakfast song, a collaboration with music artist Fulton Lee, and co-branded loungewear with Rosewood The Label.
Little Spoon reports it has delivered over 50 million meals since its inception. Along with its community platform, “Is This Normal,” it aims to disrupt the $100B children’s health and wellness market by providing modern solutions and a supportive network for parents.
Oat milk for nutritious products
Headquartered in Philadelphia for the US market, Oatly introduced the brand’s Barista Edition Oatmilk when it entered the market in 2017, initially by partnering with the coffee community.
The Swedish company has an innovation lab specifically within the historic Frankford Arsenal, an old US Army ammunition plant in Philadelphia. The lab focuses on new product development, where it experiments with and tests formulas on a small scale to predict commercial viability. It serves as both a research facility and a place where customers (Oatly requires non-disclosure agreements for visitors) can taste and provide feedback on new products.
Today, the company offers US consumers a whole oat-based lineup including milk, heavy cream, half and half, various flavors of oatmeal creamers, frozen desserts, and two oat-based versions of Philadelphia style cream cheese.
To spread the plant-based revolution to baseball fans, the company became the first national plant-based sponsor of a sports league in North America by entering into a multi-year partnership with Minor League Baseball (MiLB) across the US and Canada last year.
Angela Vranich, co-founder and CPO at Little Spoon shared, “We heard the call from our customers: mornings needed to be made easier and healthier. We’ve created these breakfasts to bring joy back to the start of the day, ensuring kids get nutritious meals without the stress.”
