JUST Egg, the hugely popular plant-based egg alternative developed by US food tech company Eat Just, is set to enter the European market through a partnership with Vegan Food Group (VFG). VFG has secured exclusive European manufacturing and distribution rights for JUST Egg, which will allow the product to launch in the EU and the UK for the first time. Backed by an £11.25 million investment, VFG is building a fully automated production line at its Lüneburg site in Germany, which is said to be Europe’s largest dedicated plant-based facility. GOOD Meat Temporarily Pauses Cultivated Chicken Production in Singapore

Amended 4 March: The company wishes to emphasize that production is simply paused temporarily, and it plans to resume production and service to consumers very soon. GOOD Meat, the cultivated meat division of the US company Eat Just, has temporarily paused the production of cultivated chicken in Singapore. The Straits Times revealed that GOOD Meat’s primary facility and a new $61 million plant in Bedok, which was scheduled to open in Q3 of last year, have been closed as the company reconsiders its strategy in Asia. A group of leading Islamic scholars has declared that cultivated meat can be halal, provided it meets specific production criteria. Eat Just Cutting 18% of Employees to Help Plant-Based Egg Division Become Profitable

Eat Just Inc. says it is cutting about 18% of jobs in its plant-based egg division, reveals CEO Josh Tetrick, in order to help reduce costs and reach profitability. While the company reports demand for its plant-based eggs is strong and growing, Tetrick says the product portfolio is currently not profitable.  The cuts will eliminate about 40 jobs, but will not affect staffers at GOOD MEAT, the company’s cell-based meat division, reports Bloomberg.
