One Planet Pizza’s “Category First” Plant-Based Tex Mex Launches at Asda

UK brand One Planet Pizza has announced that its plant-based Tex Mex, claimed to be a frozen category first, is launching at Asda stores across the country. The pizza features a wood-fired sourdough base with tomato sauce and plant-based cheese made from white beans. It is topped with marinated vegetables, sweetcorn, and jalapeños. The launch comes after One Planet Pizza showed strong performance at Asda, reportedly seeing 41% year-on-year volume growth. The brand’s Spicy Peppernomi pizza became permanently available at the retailer in 2023, following a successful trial as part of Asda’s incubator program for new brands. “Outrageously tasty” One Planet Pizza now hopes to become Asda’s top vegan pizza brand. UK frozen pizza brand Chicago Town has partnered with alt meat producer Squeaky Bean to launch deep dish vegan BBQ chick’n pizzas. German plant-based seafood brand BettaF!sh is to launch its vegan tuna pizza into ALDI Suisse supermarkets. Featuring plant-based mozzarella, the TU-NAH frozen pizza will be available across Switzerland from 6th June 2022.  BettaF!sh claims its Pizza TU-NAH is an authentic-tasting, affordable 100% plant-based, and soy-free offering made with convenience in mind. The alt tuna is sustainably produced with organic fava beans sourced from Europe and organic seaweed from Norway and Ireland. LA’s The Pizza Plant to Open 20,000 Square Foot Facility, Will Hire Over 100 New Employees

The Pizza Plant, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Plant Craft Foods, just announced the acquisition of a 20,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Sylmar, CA. The new manufacturing facility is aimed at scaling up the company’s organic vegan pizza production, as well as helping other plant-based businesses to keep up with the demand. According to the company, the USDA Organic-certified plant will significantly increase production capacity in order to expand its current line of frozen organic pizzas to Whole Foods Market, Gelson’s Market, Mother’s Market and other premier grocery retailers nationwide.
